Last night was the best sleep I've had since my surgery on June 1st. I did wake up around 4am but I slept until 10am!! I think I'll attempt the same tonight as it felt so good to get a fairly normal nights sleep. Maybe I'm getting used to being restricted to my back. Probably that and I can breathe through my nose now. I woke up made myself a fruit smoothie, brushed my teeth and took a shower. Then out for my daily walk. I go about 1 mile taking it pretty slow. I hope to increase that every few days but for now that's about all I can handle. I've definitely made leaps and bounds from that first walk my mom and I took so it's progress!
In the afternoon Brad and I went to my 2nd post op Dr. appointment. The Dr. said everything looked great and was really pleased. Although he thought I could be brushing better. ( He was able to suck up some schmutz as he calls it) I was shocked as I've made a real effort to brush after every meal, but apparently I'm not doing enough....one of those suction things would be very helpful!! He also changed out my bands to looser bands so I can open my mouth just the slightest bit. I still haven't been talking just mumbling and he thinks I should be able to do more than what I am. I beg to differ but I will practice. He also told me to open my jaw and hold it open for a few seconds a few times a day. My next visit will be in two weeks where he'll do another x-ray. I imagine my bands will be changed out again as well.
I don't have a picture today as I pretty much look the same. I did have Brad ask the Dr. when my new double chin will be gone. He just laughed and said all his female patients panic thinking he gave them a double chin but that it should be gone in a couple weeks! Phew!! I have lost about 12 lbs which is one of the pluses of this surgery. We will see if that can be maintained once I can eat again. But for now I will enjoy the happy side effect :)
