Today my mom and I ventured out for a walk. I felt rather chipper this morning when I woke up, as I'm now chin bandage free and my nasal congestion seems to be going down. I drank a new addition to my Ensure family a Stoney Field Smoothie and we headed out. I'd say within five minutes I felt pretty exhausted. We ended up walking for about 20 minutes stopping every now and again. It appears I won't be doing any marathons in the near future (not that I ever did) but will need to get out every day and improve my strength as it helps with the healing process. We got back and I took breather, and then my first shower without the chin bandage. I was free to wash my face...hallelujah! I did find out that I really do have a lot a numbness as I could only feel the water from the nose up, a very weird sensation. My lower face almost feels foreign to me. I keep trying to talk but with the splint and bands in my mouth I find almost impossible. Also there's an endless amount of drool. I'm currently a mixture of an infant and an elderly person.
I've brushed my teeth twice today. I will work really hard to follow Dr. orders. The last thing I need is an infection! I had my usual Ensure concoction and also tried to eat some yogurt with a baby spoon. It was quite humurous to watch. The yogurt just sat on my lips. Worth a shot but wasn't going to work. My Dr. suggested oatmeal and scrambled eggs I think he must be crazy. I just don't see how it's possible. So I'll stick with my smoothies, juice and Ensure yum yum!
There's a big hockey game on tonight. Go Bruins! Brad is introducing my mom into the Boston sports world. She's getting into the hockey games, the baseball hasn't sucked her in yet. Maybe before she leaves we shall see.
