Back In The Kitchen

Well let me start by saying there was no Boston road trip adventure. The more Brad thought about going he realized it would probably be a bit too much. There was over a million people lining the streets of Boston for the parade I think I would have had a nervous breakdown so in the end it was for the best. So we watched it from the comfort of our living room on t.v. We'll be in Boston for his birthday on July 24th so I should be in much better condition at that time.

We both agreed I needed to get out of the apartment so we went to the mall on Saturday. I'm actually ok with going out in public now. I still feel like I look a bit monstrous but I know it's really in my head. In actuality most people probably don't even notice unless I need to talk to them. So we walked around the mall and went to the arcade to play skee ball. I always beat Brad in that game so it's the first thing we play. I lost horribly only to realize my machine was broken and didn't tally up the score right. I knew the score was too lopsided. He still claimed victory I guess I'll let him that one time. Then we went to a movie, Green Lantern. Not a bad movie fairly entertaining. At the end of the movie I was wiped out. That was the fullest day I've had in 2 1/2 weeks so we headed home.

On Sunday I did some cleaning and laundry and went to the grocery store. I decided I would cook Brad dinner. I miss being in the kitchen so I thought it would be a good pick me up. I made a staple dish of grilled marinated flank steak and corn on the cob. Honestly this is such a yummy recipe. I highly recommend it!! It's so flavorful and tender you'll love it! For my dinner I tried one of the smoothie recipes my mom gave me from Real Simple magazine. It was a gingery berry and oat smoothie. It turned out ok. It was too thick so I had to add milk which I think watered down the taste. It was worth a try and I plan to do it again in addition to a spinach, grape and coconut smoothie. I think that texture may go down a little easier. The Ensure is losing it's luster.

I had a horrible night's sleep last night. I had so much pressure in my top jaw I just couldn't get comfortable. I did switch up my pillow around 6am and managed to get a couple hours of sleep. I was also feeling some pain in my jaw. It freaks me out because I really haven't had a lot of pain which I'm so thankful for. I've read on other jaw blogs that people had a hard time stopping their pain medication. I think I've almost made it my goal not to take any. Of course if it gets out of control I will but so far I've managed. The swelling keeps fluctuating and I'm struggling to see how this new face of mine is going to end up looking. I keep looking at old pictures of myself thinking what have I done but I know the final result won't show for awhile so I need to chill out. Ok, I must leave you and go watch The Next Food Network Star I recorded last night, my favorite show!!!!
